eep! I’m slightly elated to have you join me for this new home before inside tour with video below.
Not only are you joining the tour of a house but is now my kids’ and my home.
A blessing beyond measure that God has seen fit to place in our path. And Ivan is here to say it’s worth the wait.
Before I get started, I just want to make sure anyone and everyone knows that if you were ALREADY signed up for my Prodigal Pieces newsletter (my previous brand), you have already been added to my Livin’ Real with Larissa newsletter list. There is no need to sign up again.

Now that we have the nitty-gritty part aside, let’s get down to the fun, shall we?
STARTING ON THE GROUND FLOOR

With that, let’s start with the first-floor rooms in the house.
As you enter the door, you’ll see what used to be a porch that is now a living space.
Looking to the right, you’ll see this side.
This will become a third bedroom with closet in a jiffy.
Isn’t it funny that both of my recent homes had a porch with this pine paneling that was turned into living space? See what I did with my previous home HERE.
Then, if you do an about-face, you’ll see the left side.
While it’s pretty open now, you’ll eventually see that man door leads to my garage (building to commence in a couple weeks) and this will be an entry with built-in storage courtesy of moi.
Just off the right side, you see the “dungeon”. Lovingly named until I work my charm in there.
With only one window in there and two wall sconces for light, I plan to open it up and create flow to the back yard. Additionally, I’m tearing down that drop ceiling just like I did in my previous home in the family room and in the dining room.
What is more, there is a small closet in the back corner with this ceiling bit trying to hide… stuff.
Now imagine that end opening walled off for the bedroom.
I NEED MORE LIGHT.
In addition, I’m removing the gas wall heater in there and also in the kitchen.
COOKIN’ UP A REMODEL
An important part to any new home before inside tour is the kitchen.
Am I right?
Here’s a looky at what’s in there…
Also removing that gas wall heater since there is a new heat pump with two mini splits that provide A/C and heat.
The whole home has a fresh coat of paint that gives off rental vibes (aka. blank slate), but that’s a simple fix.
And I’m just glad I don’t have any pressing needs as this entire house is meticulously cared for over many, many years by one owner.
There’s not only plenty of cupboards, but it all works in a smaller space that is great for travel within the space.
Eventually, I will also be taking out two upper cabinets and adding a window so I can see out to the back yard as well.
Next, just off the kitchen is the laundry with extra storage and potential for a half bath.
MOVIN’ ON UP
Now for the second story beginning with this nice, wide staircase.
First and foremost, that BOOB LIGHT will go buh-bye. See my previous BOOB experience HERE.
ahem.
And… the carpet is ripped out before we even move in.
Yes, I am removing BRAND NEW carpet because:
- I have three pets and kids
- I can’t stand how icky it gets hoarding allergens
- vacuuming is not my hobby
- I HAVE THREE PETS and kids
In my previous home, I also remove all carpet and find hardwoods.
At the top of the landing is the first bedroom on the left.

Notice yet another BOOB. sigh.
Last, but not least, the bathroom that will also succumb to my DIY thumb in due time.

Yes, trying to make this a smooth transition from one brand to the other and having to play by google rules (no fun). I will have to maintain both of them until the other is ranked similarly or I lose everything I’ve worked for over 13+ years. Thanks so much, Eliza!
