Let the journey begin as we are moving on!
I’m so glad you’re here. Just by you visiting from my blog, Prodigal Pieces, means you’re invested in my journey, and I can’t thank you enough. (video discussion continues below)
On behalf of my six wonderful children and I, consider yourself invited to join us as Livin’ Real with Larissa begins an entirely new journey.
STARTING AT THE BEGINNING
It’s not a new idea that I don’t like debt and work hard to be free of it in any shape and form. In the last couple of years, I was nearly completely free from my mortgage (the last of my debt) until my marriage dissolution.
My goal has been to be fully clear by the age of 50 and I’m still chugging along on that path.
I’m curious… if you’ve set a similar goal, I’d love to hear your story!
So, with that in mind, my largest asset is my home. At the same time, I’M TIRED.
I want less to take care of, less to fuss over, and just LESS.
Did I know I’d be selling?
NO.
However, I have been “trying” to sell my home since pregnant with my third child of eight. That being said, selling is not a new idea, but I never felt God totally in my choice for resolution.
That is… until now.
My eyes well up with tears as I type this because He is and was with me whether I sold or not in the past. He prevented me from making mistakes in years prior. See what I mean HERE.
This time was different.
CHANGE IN THE GOAL
If you’ve been with me for long, you know I grew up in the forest countryside running around barefoot.
My dream has always been to get back to my country roots as I never, ever wanted to live in the city. Nor did I want to raise my kids inside city limits.
Nearing the last few years, I would question why God didn’t allow that. While at the same time, I felt that maybe I was kept within city limits because I did not know at the time how isolated my life really was from CPTSD and abuse.
Maybe He wants me around people…
Though, if you also know my story, I have/had an EVIL neighbor that caused me to build fences and guards to keep him/them out. Therefore, having neighbors like that is not healthy for anyone. (more on him later – if I even feel like talking about what he’s done recently)
It’s safe to say that after learning about the neurodiversity in my marriage and children, followed by realizing I have a covert narcissist parent, my goals are different.
In the last three years, I have purged six or so truckloads of “STUFF”.
Just giving it away and letting go.
That is an unexplainable freedom that only those that are healing from abuse can understand.
With that came the need to continue to break free.
In the meantime, I continue to prepare for rain (as God instructs Elijah in 1 Kings of Scripture) by continuing to work on my home for me or a new owner.
WHISPERS OF MY HEART
About a year ago, while walking Loula as I do daily, I pass through a neighborhood that caught my heart.
I tell God that this area would be nice and to have less.
When entering the summer season, I felt the pull again and continue to look at houses as I always do.
However, there are no listings in that area.
I look at a few houses and eventually put a bid on another property in a different part of the city. In an instant I am easily outbid by a dozen bids higher than mine the day of the listing.
A month or so later, a listing goes live, and I schedule to go see it.
Mind you, I prefer a ranch home and certainly need a garage and basement.
Or so I thought.
I’ll share more on that in coming posts, but for now, I want to share how God heard the whispers of my heart on moving on.
For now, just know that I am receiving blessing upon blessing while battling those that want me to fail.
God is good.
I’ve closed on two properties at the same time soaking in the last twenty-two years and beginning anew.
The crazy thing is that the day before was the anniversary of my dissolution hearing – talk about timing.

This is weird but I had a dream this morning that you were fixing up a house. Freaky. But best of luck to you. Moves can be hard but sometimes a fresh start has a way of helping us to get over what seems to continue to have a grip on us. Good things are coming your way and I’m sure it will all work out for the best. God works in mysterious ways it’s just that we don’t always see it. Good luck on your new endeavors.
That IS weird! haha! Moves are horrible but this has been the best thing for us all and why I’m sharing today. All is working out for our good and I couldn’t be happier. Thanks!

Congrats Larissa, moving is so not fun, but will be worth the effort in the end. just curious when we get to see the new place?
P.S. good luck on the new website
It definitely isn’t but I’m so glad we did. I will be sharing soon, so join my newsletter fam to be in the know. 😉 Thank you, Verletta!
I know how bittersweet saying goodbye to 22 years of memories is and how scary and exciting it is to be starting anew. YOU DID IT *big sigh of relief* and now you have a clean slate to create new and wonderful memories with your kids. How empowering! You’ve got this Larissa
For sure. I think I had processed that all before so it really didn’t hit hard like I thought it would. I was so ready to just start over and haven’t missed that place at all. It’s kinda eerie. Maybe it will hit at some point, but I’m satisfied now and eager to move forward. God is good! Thank you, Marie.
Congratulations! Larissa
I am so happy for you and your children.
Pece be with you all.
God is good, he blesses us all the time
Thank you! We’ve all felt good about the change and see Him working in it all for all parties.
So happy for your new beginnings. Wishing you and your kids many happy memories in your new space.
It’s truly such a blessing, Holly. Thank you!
So happy for you and your family to be going to a wonderful neighborhood with decent neighbors. We lived for several years next to terrible neighbors that even led to law suits. We finally bought them out! It was cheaper than continually paying a lawyer 😅
Best wishes to you all ❤
Thank you so very much, Michele. I am amazed that they let you buy them out! That was a consideration of mine for a long time if ever given the opportunity. Good on ya!
What an exciting-and terrifying maybe-time for you and your kids. Best of luck and loads of happiness for you all. (And your hair still looks terrific!).
Exciting, YES! Not at all worrisome. We’ve all wanted this for so long and each of us has said they haven’t missed the old home at all. I think with everything in flux the last few years, this fresh start is what we all needed. Thanks so much Elle! (especially for the hair comment! tee hee!)
I’m so happy for you and your family! You’re amazing! Sending you wishes for many more blessings and happiness in your new home!
aww… thank you so much, Karen! We are truly seeing God’s hand in it all. So good!
I’m just tuning back in and didfn’t know you were planning a move. Good for you. I’m happy for you. A move can be a refresher especially when you are getting away from someone that is causing so much pain. Also leaving behind memories of the pain from a fractured marriage. God truly IS good. ❤
Wasn’t planning a move, per se, but have been wanting to for decades. Thanks so much, Barb. <3 Yes, He surely is... all the time.
